Description
Requirements Engineering
Requirements Engineering (RE) is the science and discipline of eliciting, specifying, analyzing, documenting, and managing requirements.
Workshop Themes
Three themes are developed during the workshop
1. The benefits of "Engineering" Requirements
2. Technology Adoption
3. Process Improvement
"Engineering" Requirements
Our belief is that the identification, analysis, and management of requirements is not an art but instead a science. Throughout the workshop we stress proven approaches to solving requirements issues. This applies even to "people" intensive requirements issues.
Technology Adoption
The students are repeatedly asked to develop transition plans to transition the new requirements ideas into their organization. One workshop module deals with technology transition topics.
Process Improvement
The organizational implementation of all requirements engineering activities is addressed through process definition. The students define their organization's RE process. Basic process improvement tools, techniques, and motivation are supplied as part of the workshop.
The Workshop
The RE Workshop is tailored to fit specific target organization needs. It consists of lectures, exercises, and case studies covering various requirements topics. During the workshop, the organization's requirements processes are analyzed, opportunities for improvement are identified, and a rough action plan is developed.
