Description

The Practical Software Measurement (PSM) Workshop provides a comprehensive overview of the Practical Software Measurement approach to measurement for software-intensive weapons; Command, Control, Computers, and Intelligence; and Automated Information Systems. PSM is based on an issue-driven measurement approach that provides a process to:
• Identify a program's issues
• Define a measurement plan that addresses those issues
• Select and specify measures
• Collect and analyze data
• Establish a measurement program in an organization

The goal of PSM is to provide program managers with the objective information needed to meet cost, schedule, and technical objectives. This workshop introduces the PSM principles and approach to implement measurement and explains how to use the PSM Guide.

At the Conclusion... Participants will:
•	Understand how software measurement can be used to help manage a software-intensive program
•	Understand the characteristics of an effective software measurement process
•	Understand how to use the PSM Guide

Associated Activities and Deliverables
Measurement Capability Assessment. This formal assessment method is designed to assess the strengths and weaknesses of existing measurement practices within the context of the overall organization. Related and supportive technologies and business practices are addressed within the assessment which allows for a complete view of the needs of the organization.
