Description
The Acquisition Project Management workshop is designed to teach the participants the concepts, principles, and practices of effective project management from an acquisition perspective. The focus of the material is the technical arena. This is not intended to be a contracting, contract management, or procurement workshop.
The workshop covers the following topics:
• Project Scope Management
• Roles and Responsibilities
• RFPs and Contracts
• Independent Cost Verification
• Metrics
• Project Planning, Tracking, and Oversight
• Risk Management
Small breakout groups participate in planned exercises to solidify workshop concepts.
At the Conclusion... The participants should be able to: |
| • | Technically evaluate contractor proposals |
| • | Prepare the technical portion of RFP's that produce proposals that can be evaluated |
| • | Contribute to RFP's that result in projects that can be managed |
| • | Understand essential project tracking metrics |
| • | Track projects based upon cost and performance |
| • | Understand acquisition risks & strategies for those risks |
| Associated Activities and Deliverables |
| Pre-Workshop Interviews & Tailoring: Approximately 2 weeks prior to the workshop, interviews are conducted on site to assess current knowledge and skills relative to Acquisition Project Management. From the data gathered, the course content is tailored such that the participants are taught the appropriate level of detail. |
Prerequisites Participants should have project management experience and understand the rudiments of cost estimation.
